In Monaco, even the emergency vehicles need a little to stand out. INEOS Automotive has been appointed by the Automobile Club of Monaco as an official emergency services vehicle supplier, placing nine Grenadier Quartermasters trackside for one of the world’s most demanding motorsport calendars. From historic racing and electric competition to the glamour and pressure of Formula One, the Grenadier will now play a role in keeping Monaco’s tight, unforgiving streets safer during race weekends.

A Royal Reception For INEOS
The fleet was unveiled on June 5 by Albert II, Prince of Monaco, during the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix weekend. The vehicles will be used by the Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco, the Principality’s fire brigade, supporting events organized by the Automobile Club of Monaco.
Five of the vehicles are Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cabs converted by Tuga Fire in Portugal, an INEOS-approved specialist known for transforming vehicles for heavy-duty emergency service use. The remaining four Grenadier Quartermasters are being supplied as part of a six-year agreement between INEOS Automotive and the Automobile Club of Monaco.
For Monaco, this is not merely a branding exercise. The converted Quartermasters have been built as rapid intervention vehicles, capable of carrying up to four firefighters while supporting driver extraction and fire suppression duties. Finished in red with fluorescent yellow emergency markings, the vehicles feature custom rear bodies designed to provide quick, ergonomic access to extrication tools and firefighting equipment.
The firefighting system is configured for attacks using either water or treated water, while INEOS’ factory-fitted High Load Electrical Preparation powers the vehicles’ warning systems, including lightbars, strobe lights, and area scene lighting. Aside from uprated rear suspension to handle the added equipment, the Grenadier’s core structure required no major changes, meaning all original components remain covered by INEOS Automotive’s five-year warranty.

Built For Monaco
That is the kind of detail that matters in Monaco. The street circuit is famous for its prestige, but also for its lack of margin. Barriers sit close, corners are narrow, and access can be complicated. In that environment, a response vehicle must be compact enough to move through tight spaces, tough enough to carry serious equipment, and reliable enough to be ready the moment it is called.
“The Grenadier underwent rigorous testing to ensure its capability to safely and effectively meet the extreme demands of an extraction and fire response vehicle, particularly on the Monaco circuit as well as on the roads of the WRC Monte-Carlo Rally,” said Lieutenant-colonel Maxime Yvrard, Chief of the Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco. “Monaco’s firefighters have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Grenadier and have been deeply impressed by its strength and durability.”
The Grenadier’s role will not end when the race cars are loaded into their transporters. Outside of Monaco’s motorsport events, the vehicles will be integrated into the daily operational missions of the Monaco Fire Brigade, extending their usefulness beyond the circuit and into the streets of the Principality.
Eric Barrabino, ACM Events Director, said the vehicles reflect a close collaboration between the Automobile Club of Monaco and Monaco’s emergency services.
“This acquisition demonstrates the close collaboration between the Automobile Club of Monaco and the Monaco Fire and Emergency Services regarding the technical and functional requirements of both entities,” Barrabino said. “The modularity of these vehicles, adapted for use on track, rallies, and in urban environments, will strongly contribute to the ongoing improvement of the safety of the Automobile Club’s sporting events.”

Launched in 2022, the INEOS Grenadier was designed as a modern take on the traditional body-on-frame 4×4, combining British-inspired utility with German engineering. Its ladder-frame construction, practical packaging, and work-focused layout have made it a natural fit for police, fire, and rescue services around the world.
In Monaco, the Grenadier now joins a very particular kind of working fleet. It will not be chasing lap times or posing outside the casino, though it will likely be photographed doing both by accident. Its job is more important: standing ready just beyond the barriers, prepared to respond when motorsport’s grandest stage demands action.

They need to offer this as a package for those who want something fun to run around NYC in.
