A few weeks ago Sublue reached out to offer me the opportunity to check out their latest underwater scooter the WhiteShark Mix. I had it shipped to my home in California and when I got back to the Golden State I spent several days using the Sublue WhiteShark Mix in several different environments and conditions, including the Pacific Ocean.
My first impression upon unboxing the WhiteShark was that it felt well made and looked really cool. I couldn’t help but think of all the scenes in the James Bond film Thunderball with underwater scooters and the Sublue is the modern, more efficient version, that will fit in your carry on luggage. Its compact size means you can take anywhere and believe me I wish I would have had this on my trips to Bali, the Gili Islands, and Thailand.
While using the Sublue in the open ocean I was impressed with the smoothness and speed. In the pool with no current, it performs even better and is a lot of fun to play with. The neutrally-buoyant Whiteshark Mix weighs 6.5 lb, goes over 3 mph, and can take you down to a maximum depth of 130ft.
I got just over 1 hour of power on a full charge using the WhiteShark pretty using it intermittently, the full speed uninterrupted rating is 30 minutes. The twin motors operate in tandem and as a safety feature, you are required to pull both triggers to turn on the motors. The battery level is shown on LEDs on the top of the unit so you can keep track of how much power you have left. But one of the coolest features is the fact that the WhiteShark Mix has a built-in GoPro mount allowing you to capture all your underwater adventures.
The WhiteShark Mix comes with a battery, charger, a wrist strap, and even a carrying bag.
