Just ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, McLaren Automotive pulled the cover off something extraordinary, a bespoke 750S Spider that captures the pulse of Sin City. Called Project Viva by MSO, this one-of-one creation stands as a rolling tribute to Las Vegas and the ultimate example of how far McLaren’s personalization arm can push the art of automotive design.
Crafted by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the division responsible for bespoke commissions and one-off builds, Project Viva isn’t just a showpiece. It serves as a reminder that MSO doesn’t simply customize cars; it transforms emotion and place into form and function. Viva is where creativity meets horsepower, and where the road becomes a canvas.

Project Viva: A Las Vegas Story Told in Monochrome
Rather than drenching the car in neon hues like the Strip, MSO went the opposite direction, a bold monochrome treatment that captures Vegas through movement and line instead of color and glow. The ‘Sketch in Motion’ livery features individually hand-painted elements representing everything from iconic signage and skyline silhouettes to ties with music, performance, and McLaren’s own racing roots.
Instead of recreating Las Vegas with bright pigments, Project Viva interprets its rhythm and architecture through intricate linework and precision storytelling. Every curve tells part of the narrative. McLaren didn’t just design a car; they illustrated a feeling.

Bespoke Paint With Purpose
The livery uses a mix of MSO-exclusive paints, each chosen with intent:
- Muriwai White, inspired by the doors and shutters of Muriwai House, is a nod to McLaren heritage.
- Vegas Nights, a new MSO shade created just for this commission. At a glance, it appears deep black, but up close, subtle flecks of cyan, magenta, and green echo the neon glow of the city after dark.
The paint isn’t decoration, it’s storytelling. A study of light, energy, and the motion of a city that almost refuses to sleep.

F1 Drivers Add Their Own Touch
Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri also left their fingerprints on Project Viva, literally. Both drivers added hand-applied details, including sketches and the tenth Constructors’ World Championship star on the rear bumper to celebrate McLaren’s recent triumph. It’s more than a nod to racing history; it’s proof that performance lives as much in spirit as it does in lap times.

Where Design Meets Emotion
“Project Viva captures what McLaren Special Operations is all about – pushing beyond convention to create something truly personal. It’s where craft meets character, and where any inspiration can become a story told through design. Every commission we create is a fusion of vision and skill, resulting in a car that authentically expresses the inspiration behind it. Whether born from brand storytelling or a client’s own passion, MSO exists to turn ideas into something unique and meaningful.” Jonathan Simms, Director of McLaren Special Operations.

Where to See It
Project Viva will be on display at the McLaren Experience Center inside the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel from November 13–20, leading into the Las Vegas Grand Prix. For anyone betting on the future of bespoke performance cars, this is worth seeing in person.
McLaren didn’t chase trends with this build; they chased atmosphere. In Project Viva, Las Vegas doesn’t just light the skyline; it fuels the design.
