2025 Lexus LX 600 Review: Luxury SUV Power And Capability Perfected

The 2025 Lexus LX 600 is more than just another luxury SUV; it is a flagship SUV evolved for the modern era, blending technology, craftsmanship, and capability into a machine equally suited for downtown Houston or dusty Hill Country backroads. While competitors like the Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz GLS chase sleek athleticism, the 2025 Lexus LX 600 remains true to its heritage of unshakable strength and quiet confidence, while leaving the off-road focus to the more than capable GX 550.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood of the 2025 Lexus LX 600 sits a 3.4‑liter twin‑turbocharged V6 producing 409 horsepower and 479 lb‑ft of torque, paired with a 10‑speed automatic transmission and full‑time four‑wheel drive. It’s a big departure from the naturally aspirated V8S of the past, but the new engine is more efficient and far more responsive. Acceleration is brisk for a vehicle tipping the scales at nearly 6,000 pounds, with a 0–60 mph time in the mid‑six‑second range.

On the road, the 2025 Lexus LX 600 feels smooth and deliberate rather than urgent. Steering is light but accurate, and the adaptive suspension does an excellent job managing its size. The real revelation, however, comes off‑road. Thanks to its advanced 4WD system with low‑range gearing, multi‑terrain select, and crawl control, the LX 600 feels right at home on gravel and dirt roads, but I wouldn’t take on a serious overland journey. It was perfect for our trips back and forth to Round Top this last week.

Design and Interior

Step inside the 2025 Lexus LX 600, and the first impression is one of old‑school craftsmanship meeting modern minimalism. The cabin is wrapped in supple leather, with real wood and brushed metal accents that feel authentic, not ornamental. The layout is clean and intuitive, with Lexus’s new dual‑screen interface offering a welcome mix of touchscreen convenience and traditional physical controls.

Comfort is the dominant theme. The seats are deeply cushioned, visibility is commanding, and the quietness of the cabin borders on serene. In Ultra Luxury trim, the second row transforms into a first‑class experience with reclining captain’s chairs, a center console, and massaging functionality. The trade‑off is the loss of a third row, but for buyers prioritizing passenger pampering, it’s a worthwhile exchange.

Cargo space isn’t class‑leading, but it’s adequate for road trips or family errands. The split tailgate design remains practical for loading gear or sitting trackside at a weekend motorsport event—a subtle nod to Lexus’s utilitarian roots.

Driving Experience

Driving the 2025 Lexus LX 600 feels like piloting something substantial and deliberate. It’s a luxury SUV that doesn’t pretend to be a sports car, and that’s part of its charm. The twin‑turbo V6 is smooth and quiet, delivering effortless torque for highway cruising or towing up to 8,000 pounds. On long Texas drives, the LX 600 glides over uneven pavement and shields passengers from wind and road noise with an almost old‑world sense of composure.

In city driving, its size becomes more apparent; tight parking lots and narrow streets remind you this is a full‑frame SUV. Yet the 360‑degree camera system and excellent driving aids help mitigate those challenges. Fuel economy isn’t stellar, averaging around 17 mpg combined, but that’s the price of commanding power and comfort.

Technology and Features

The 2025 Lexus LX 600 benefits from Lexus’s latest tech suite, including a 12.3‑inch touchscreen, 25‑speaker Mark Levinson surround sound, and a robust suite of safety systems. The infotainment system is cleaner and more responsive than in previous generations, though still not quite as fluid as some European rivals. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and Lexus’s voice assistant is more conversational than expected, handling navigation, climate, and music commands with ease.

The digital rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, and lane‑keeping assist all function seamlessly, reinforcing the LX 600’s focus on safety and driver confidence. While not the most cutting‑edge tech showcase, it feels mature, tested, and dependable.

The 2025 Lexus LX 600 doesn’t try to be trendy. It doesn’t chase lightweight platforms or hyper‑aggressive styling. Instead, it embodies what a true luxury SUV should be: capable, comfortable, and built to last. It’s a vehicle for those who value craftsmanship over flash, substance over spectacle.

In a marketplace where many luxury SUVs feel like overgrown crossovers, the 2025 Lexus LX 600 stands apart as a genuine body‑on‑frame flagship that still takes its off‑road pedigree seriously. It’s equally at home on a ranch road as it is in a hotel valet line, and that balance is exactly what makes it so compelling.

  1. The LX is for sure on my radar, they still promote it as off-road capable, but it seems more urban focused if you ask me.

  2. The LX 600 maintains its reputation as a serious body-on-frame SUV, successfully blending old-school capability with a serene and highly refined modern luxury interior.

  3. This interior is more my speed, I like the look of the GX, but the 3rd row option is something I need, I guess the LX is back on my short list.
