The sun rose over WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and the roar of heritage engines filled the air as the 2025 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion unfolded like a kinetic museum. Over four days, more than 400 meticulously restored racecars, from pre-war Grand Prix legends to roaring IMSA prototypes, celebrated history and demanded attention.
This year, the Reunion pulled its greatest coup yet: all seven generations of IROC cars graced the track together for the first time ever. The sight alone from Porsche 911 Carrera RSRs to late-2000s Pontiac Firebirds, each piloted by storied drivers, was a rolling reminder of racing’s shared mythology.

Saturday’s headline act was the Unser Family Cup. Twenty-six IROC machines thundered out onto the circuit, where Tomy Drissi claimed victory in a 2006 Pontiac Firebird. Dario Franchitti was a fierce rival in pursuit, and Kurt Busch rounded out the podium. The grid read like racing royalty: Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Mark Martin, Bill Elliott, Jenson Button, Zak Brown, Scott Pruett, and Bruce Canepa, all shoulder to shoulder, history and horsepower intertwined.

Beyond the IROC spectacle, the 2025 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion paddocks pulsed with other mechanical marvels. The Reunion also celebrated 75 years of Formula 1, offering a paddock showcase of more than 30 historic F1 cars and daily vintage races featuring 25 machines from the gloriously golden 1966–1985 era. Steel-and-gear icons like the Maserati 250F and Eagle Mk1 shared the stage with modern machines like the McLaren MCL38, bringing past and present into sharp focus on Laguna’s legendary corkscrew.

Adding to the contemporary flair, Porsche debuted its 963 RSP in North America. Patrick Long and Bruce Canepa, legends in their own right, spun it through demonstration laps, an electrifying contrast to the vintage thrum just yards away.
The pageantry wasn’t limited to engines. As Grand Marshal, Jenson Button lent his voice with live commentary during the Mario Andretti Trophy race, signed autographs, and even took to the track himself, driving a 1967 Alfa Romeo GT Jr., a 2011 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, and a 1996 IROC Firebird. His presence blurred the lines between competitor and connoisseur, personality and performance.

Throughout the weekend, the 2025 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion unfolded like an illustrated history. Race groups such as the Juan Manuel Fangio Cup, Pedro Rodriguez Trophy, and the Scott Pruett Legends of Endurance Cup brought their own visual and visceral energy, a reminder that every vintage machine carries the memories of races past.
By closing time, Laguna Seca wasn’t just a track. It was a showroom, a celebration, a collision of eras that reminded every attendee, enthusiasts and casual visitors alike, that heritage lives best at full throttle.
