We get a lot of whiskeys sent to us to try out. At any given moment, there are between 12 and 20 bottles of whiskey floating around the office. But one of the more interesting experiences we have had the pleasure of trying is Designer Dram, which makes for a unique gift for the whiskey lover in your life, or if you are a fan of whiskey, a unique experience you can gift yourself.

Designer Dram: Create Your Own Custom Whiskey At Home

Launched in 2021, Designer Dram is the world’s only company that empowers anyone to become a whiskey designer, using the same premium whiskey sources as high-end brands such as Bulleit, George Dickel, and Whistle Pig. The process is pretty simple: a sampling kit arrives, and you get to sample and blend your perfect whiskey from barrels that have been aged 5-10 years.

You can create up to 21,252 different combinations to create a truly unique whiskey custom-tailored to your own tastes. Once you have your blend done, visit the website to enter your specifications and then design your own custom label. Choose from 29 different label styles, add a logo or family crest, and give your whiskey its very own name. We went with the Gentleman Racer blend.

Designer Dram Experience:

The Whiskey Experience ($249) arrives beautifully packaged with a tasting and blending kit consisting of a sample of all the Designer Dram barrels and includes a lead-free crystal copita, graduated cylinder, and a Whiskey Blending guide. Once you have found the ideal blend, place the order online and a few weeks later, another beautiful package arrives with your fully customized bottle of whiskey, leaving just one thing left to do: enjoy it!

The whole team really enjoyed the experience and was impressed with the packaging, bottle, and, of course, the excellent whiskey. For more, visit designerdram.com.

There are Napa Cabernets, and then there are Napa Cabernets. NAMO Wines' 2019 sets a standard that should have other vintners on notice. Proprietor Debra Mathy partnered with winemaking veteran Philippe Melka, whose résumé includes work at some of Napa’s most acclaimed estates, to build a Cabernet that leans into complexity without losing drinkability. Melka’s approach isn’t about flash; it’s about sourcing fruit from complementary micro-terroirs and assembling them into a cohesive blend that shows depth and personality. This is what you expect out of a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, positioned as a flagship-level bottle, and the pricing reflects that.
