Jim Simpson is an automotive artist who builds some of the most beautiful bespoke sportscars on the market today. His creations are based on one of the best selling sports cars of all time, the Mazda MX-5, but you wouldn’t know it until you popped the hood. Jim takes classic styling and old-world craftsmanship to create a truly one of a kind sports car.

His past cars have drawn inspiration from Zagato, Ferrari, and vintage Mazdas, the process starts with discussing what the customer is looking for, then Jim sets to work with sketching and creating a scale model. The buck is made of hand-shaped metal and sent off to master model makers so the final body can be made out of fiberglass. The attention to detail is what sets Simpson Design apart from many other “replica car” makers.
