Traveling by car is by far my preferred mode of transportation, not just when road tripping across the USA, but when traveling abroad. You get to see more, experience more, and you have more control over the trip. Driving overseas can be tricky, while I have driven in Indonesia before, hiring a driver and car is surprisingly affordable and it allows you to snap photos as you drive along. Our trip took us from Jakarta to Yogyakarta. If you have not had a chance to travel by car overseas I suggest you get off the tour bus and rent a car!
