The original Batmobile from the 1960s “Batman” TV series is to be sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale, Arizona auction. According to George Barris, 87, who created the car by customizing a 1955 Lincoln Futura. The car will be a featured auction at the January, 19th sale and is estimated to bring seven figures.

“It’s a big part of my life,” Barris said. “But I thought about it and decided it should be shared with people around the world, not sitting in my showroom in North Hollywood,” Barris said he purchased the car from the Ford Motor Co. for only $1 and spent $15,000 on the customization that turned it into the Batmobile.
