One of the other great Argentinian Grand Prix drivers of the 1950s was José Froilán González nicknamed El Cabezon (Fat Head). His raw talent impressed Ferrari team leader Alberto Ascari and his win at 1951 British Grand Prix at Silverstone tells you he was a first-rate driver.

Overshadowed by Juan Manuel Fangio, González never chased a world championship despite being a Ferrari and Maserati factory driver. His racing activities slowed after the 1954 season that saw the death of compatriot Onofre Marimon at the Nurburgring.

His final Formula One race was behind the wheel of Ferrari Dino 246 in the 1960 Grand Prix in Buenos Aires, where he finished 10th.
