Back in the early 1960s, Bill Thomas was the Chevrolet answer to the Shelby Cobra, with the Cheetah, but as usual corporate politics killed the program before it ever really got off the ground. According to the  Hemmings Auto Blog  the “Super Cheetah” prototype, long thought lost forever, is up for sale. The Super Cheetah, a grand touring car meant for street use, compared to the race Cheetah it was widened it by four inches, lengthened it by 19 inches. The doors were wider, a more street-friendly suspension was installed, and the car was designed to include creature comforts such as air conditioning and automatic transmissions.

The asking price for this piece of GM history? Just $1.25 million for the unfinished prototype. See more at  Hemmings.
