When Formula 1 calls for order at 200 miles per hour, only something truly formidable can answer. This weekend at Zandvoort, Aston Martin steps in with the most aggressive Vantage ever built, the Aston Martin Vantage S Safety Car.

Vantage S Safety Car Performance Specs

The Vantage S is powered by a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 680 horsepower and 800Nm of torque. That translates to 0–62 mph in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. These numbers are not just for show. They ensure the Vantage S has the pace to lead the fastest race cars on the planet during safety car deployments.

Engineers added key upgrades for Formula 1 duty, including a rear deck spoiler, centrally mounted bonnet blades to extract heat from the V8, and the FIA lightbar for track visibility. The result is a car that combines supercar performance with stability and control at the sharp end of the grid.

“The Vantage S represents the peak of performance for the model that is the beating heart of the Aston Martin brand,” says Alex Long, Aston Martin’s Global Marketing Director. “It was destined to take on this prestigious role, and it will be a source of pride for both our colleagues and our customers whenever it leads the pack.”

For Aston Martin, having the Vantage S serve as the Official FIA Safety Car is both a technical showcase and a brand statement. The DBX707 continues in its role as the FIA Medical Car, but it is the Vantage S that will draw the spotlight whenever race control deploys it.

Bernd Mayländer on the Vantage S Safety Car

Bernd Mayländer, veteran FIA Safety Car driver, will be the man at the wheel when the track demands order. “The introduction of the Vantage S represents a clear step forward,” Mayländer said. “It has the capability to respond quickly and safely when we get the call for deployment. It is the most performance-focused Vantage to date, and I look forward to driving it on the world’s greatest circuits.”

Aston Martin Vantage S Safety Car Debut

The Aston Martin Vantage S Safety Car will make its Formula 1 debut at the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, painted in Podium Green to match the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team cars. It joins the DBX707 as part of Aston Martin’s dual presence in Formula 1, ensuring both safety and medical response are backed by British performance.

In a sport where milliseconds define legacies, the safety car often operates outside the spotlight. But when the Aston Martin Vantage S Safety Car roars onto the circuit ahead of Verstappen, Hamilton, and Leclerc, fans will be reminded that safety has rarely looked or sounded this exhilarating.
