Royce Rumsey is a Lifelong automotive enthusiast originating from the Midwest–with early-on exposure to sprint-car racing at fabled tracks like New Bremen, Findlay, Limaland and Eldora, sports car racing at Mid-Ohio, and of course Champ Cars at Indianapolis. Formal photo and cinematographic training while garnering a degree in Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati and have provided photographic, design, and intellectual property business services for and with McLaren Racing Cars, Ltd, AJ Foyt Racing, USAC, NASCAR, Penske Racing, Rick Mears, Penske-Kranefuss and Cary Agajanian. Inspired by the works of Jesse Alexander, John Frankenheimer, Ridley Scott, George Hurrell, Edward Weston, Clyde Butcher, and other renowned lensmen. His intention has been to bring the chiaroscuro lighting style of classical painting to the automotive photographic process along with chromatic and value application that he refers to as ‘dynamic fidelity’ (not to be confused with the trendy “high dynamic range” style).
