Originally prepared for the SCCA Showroom Stock Class by Newman/Sharp Racing, the car was driven by actor Tom Cruise, before disappearing for decades, only to be discovered in a scrapyard by the current owner who started a bare-metal restoration in 2006.  The car was stripped and resprayed to its original Canon/Planter livery, as it would have looked when driven by Tom Cruise.

Power is from a 3.0-liter V6 reportedly modified with Jim Wolf Technologies camshafts, MSA headers and throttle body, and HKS exhaust and ignition system. Additional equipment includes a five-speed manual transmission, Tokico springs and shocks, a roll cage, stainless-steel brake lines, and pop-up headlights. The only thing that really takes away from the authenticity is the incorrect red bucket seats.
