How to Americans can still Travel to Cuba

For a short time, American’s could freely travel to Cuba, cruise ships were docking and what seemed to be one of the longest standoffs in modern history had come to an end. But after the Trump administration eliminated the group “people-to-people” educational travel category, canceled cruise ship travel to Cuba, and limited U.S. flights to Havana only, American travelers have been left wondering how they can still visit the island nation.

While any American traveler can still visit Cuba by booking a flight from eight US cities, media reports have left many travelers wary about booking a trip. Leading Cuba travel agency CUBA CANDELA has created a useful step by step guide on how you can still travel to Cuba under the “Support for the Cuban People” general license.

Visitors are required to be traveling to Cuba for cultural enrichment and must have a full-time schedule for their time in the country.  All major U.S. airlines including JetBlue, Delta, American, and United fly nonstop service to Havana, Cuba. You may be asked for your purpose of travel before completing the booking. Your purpose of travel is “Support for the Cuban People” so just keep that in mind during any interactions you have while booking your trip and going through customs.
