The 1971 Can-Am race at Edmonton International Speedway was a sports car racing event held on July 18, 1971, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The race was the fifth round of the 1971 Can-Am season a was won by Denny Hulme driving a McLaren M8F Chevrolet, Jackie Stewart came in second in his Lola T260 Chevrolet, and Jackie Oliver came in third driving a Shadow MKII Chevrolet. The race was held on a temporary road course set up at the Edmonton International Speedway, which was a 1.9-mile (3.1 km) oval track. The Can-Am series, also known as the Canadian-American Challenge Cup, was a sports car racing series that was held from 1966 to 1974. It was known for its high-powered cars and close, competitive racing.
