Book Captures Los Angeles In The 1970s

Van Nuys Boulevard, in the summer of 1972, young people from Los Angeles cruised on a Wednesday night. “You had everything from your Mustangs to lowriders and hot rods. … Essentially, you were out there to see your friends, show off your car, and just sort of be there. It was the place for young people to be” said photographer Rick McCloskey.

McCloskey’s photos of Los Angeles were published along with a collection of essays, “Los Angeles in the 1970s,” by Rare Bird Books.
