Ondrej Balák graduated from art school in Ostrava, with a focus on Industrial Design. He focused on automotive and motorcycle design and presented his work at several exhibitions. As a result, he was awarded a scholarship to Istituto Europeo di Design at Torino University and Lawernce Technological University in Detroit where he continued to hone his skills.
After school, he started working at the Technical University of Ostrava, where he was employed as a designer in the Development Department. In 2014 he decided to focus more on his art and combining his lifelong passions of motorsport and art into a career.
The main subject of his work is the Masaryk Circuit, the historic street circuit in the city of Brno, home to the Czechoslovakian Grand Prix from 1930-1935. The race was revived in 1976 and continued until 1988.
