Retro motorcycle maker Janus Motorcycles has released their largest displacement motorcycle to date, the Halycon 450. The styling is reminiscent of the Matchless H 1000, Croft-Cameron Super Eight, and other motorcycles from the 1920s, but with modern Brembo Brakes, fuel injection, and suspension. Powered by an SWM 445cc single-cylinder, Janus claims the new bike is capable of 90 mph and features modern comfort and rideability.
The Halcyon 450 starts at $13,500 but can be ordered with an MSRP of over $15,000, which makes the 450cc about twice as much as its 250cc sibling. While the price might not seem to be too high for a small production hand-made motorcycle from the USA, the Halcyon 450 is thousands more than many established motorcycles on the market.
While I haven’t had the chance to see any Janus Motorcycles in person or ride the Halcyon 450. It is obvious that this bike is more about the romance of a lost time and buying one is purely an emotional decision, which after looking at the photos, I fully understand.
Head over to Janusmotorcycle.com to configure your own version of the Halcyon 450, mine (pictured below) came in at $15,385 and would require a $6,000 deposit to go into production. Watch the full launch video on the Janus Motorcycle YouTube channel.
