The original hero car from Steve McQueen’s movie “Bullitt” was rediscovered after 40 years and unveiled to the public in 2018 at the North American International Auto Show. Only two Highland Green Mustangs were used for filming and the hero car was piloted by Steve McQueen himself through the streets of San Francisco, in what would become one of the most iconic car chases of all time.

After filming the car was sold to a private party and lost until it’s unveiling at the 50th anniversary of the film. The Highland Green GT Fastback may be one of the most recognizable and valuable American cars ever to go to auction, the car has remained unrestored and retains the original wheels and other modifications made for filming. The current owner Sean Kiernan, originally inherited the car from his father and has been touring with the car since it’s unveiling in early 2018.

The car is scheduled to be auctioned off at Mecum’s Kissimmee Florida auction in 2020 and will be exhibited at various automotive events around the country leading up to the auction.
