A rare slice of Hollywood and automotive history has hit the market at Daniel Schmitt & Co. Classic Car Gallery in St. Louis: a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Coupe by Pininfarina, once owned by none other than action movie legend Sylvester Stallone.

With its sultry triple black colorway—Nero over Nero leather—and just 41,603 miles on the odometer, this low-slung grand tourer is a time capsule from an era when performance, elegance, and star power collided.

But this isn’t just any vintage Ferrari 365. It’s one of only 505 examples produced worldwide, a sleek Italian thoroughbred that blends the soul of a Daytona with the civility of a continent-crushing GT. Under the long hood beats a 4.4-liter Colombo V12 engine delivering 340 horsepower—tamed ever so slightly with the addition of power steering, power windows, air conditioning, and a more spacious 2+2 layout. This was Ferrari’s answer to those seeking high-speed luxury without compromising on comfort.

The Ferrari GTC/4: A Gentleman’s Ferrari

Unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari 365 GTC/4 was often overshadowed by its racier sibling, the 365 GTB/4 “Daytona.” But in recent years, collectors have been giving the GTC/4 its due. Designed by Pininfarina, it wears a more understated and elegant silhouette, with subtle styling cues like the black rubber front bumper and hidden headlights that make it an icon of early ’70s GT design. With its smoother ride, refined suspension, and creature comforts, it was the Ferrari for those who wanted to cruise, not just race.

According to Daniel Schmitt, this model is “an extremely rare find” and “a highly desirable addition for the most sophisticated collector, investor, or enthusiast.”

A Stallone Story

What makes this car even more remarkable is its Hollywood pedigree. Originally completed in 1972, the Ferrari passed into the hands of Michael Ovitz in the late 1970s. At the time, Ovitz was rising to prominence as co-founder of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), representing an elite roster of A-listers—Spielberg, Cruise, Madonna, and yes, Sylvester Stallone.

Stallone, riding high on the success of the Rocky franchise and establishing himself as a global icon of the silver screen, purchased the car from Ovitz in the mid-1980s. It would remain in his collection until the late 1990s.

While Stallone has been known for his love of muscle cars—he famously drove a custom Ford Mustang in The Expendables and has owned everything from a Bugatti Veyron to a custom Camaro—his affinity for Ferrari is well documented. He’s been spotted over the years with various Prancing Horse models, cementing his place among the marque’s celebrity faithful.

Own the Legend

Priced at $229,900, this Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is more than a car—it’s a legacy on wheels. With its A-list provenance, low mileage, and impeccable condition, it’s poised to become the crown jewel in any serious collector’s garage.

For those who understand that true investment-grade vehicles aren’t just about horsepower or heritage—but the stories they carry with them—this Stallone-owned GTC/4 offers the full package: performance, pedigree, and pure presence.
