Porsche has unveiled the latest Manthey Porsche Kits, now available in the U.S., designed to elevate the performance of two of the most track-focused 911 models: the Type 992 911 GT3 RS, currently in production, and the Type 991 911 GT2 RS, produced from 2018 to 2020.
Manthey Porsche and the 992 911 GT3 RS: Engineering More Than a Ton of Downforce
The Manthey Porsche Kit for the 911 GT3 RS transforms the car with a suite of aerodynamic refinements. A reimagined front lip, reinforced with carbon fiber, pairs with revised Gurney flaps, dual dive planes, and an expanded rear diffuser to boost total downforce by 20%—an astonishing 2,200 lbs. at 177 mph—without increasing drag. This enables drivers to carry higher speeds through corners.
Manthey Porsche’s innovations also include a carbon fiber rear window panel that reduces weight by 25%, a shark fin for improved stability, and six roof fins inspired by the 963 World Endurance Champion. These refinements, paired with lightweight carbon fiber aero discs, culminate in unmatched track capability.
The Manthey Porsche Kit also upgrades suspension with a semi-active coilover system that adjusts damper settings in real-time, ensuring precision handling under the extreme loads generated by the aerodynamic enhancements.
Brake components are re-engineered for track use, featuring braided steel brake lines for superior pedal feel and responsiveness. Customers can further personalize their vehicles with illuminated door sills, decals, and custom towing eyes, all bearing the Manthey Porsche hallmark of precision and performance.
What is a Manthey Porsche?
Manthey Racing is a German auto racing team and engineering firm specializing in Porsche vehicles. Established in 1996 by former racing driver Olaf Manthey, the company has evolved from a competitive racing team into a pivotal partner of Porsche, contributing significantly to both motorsport and high-performance engineering.
After retiring from professional racing in 1993, Olaf Manthey founded Manthey Racing in Rheinbreitbach, Germany. The team debuted in the Porsche Supercup in 1996, securing a commendable fourth place in the team standings. From 1997 to 2000, with Dutch driver Patrick Huisman, Manthey Racing clinched four consecutive drivers’ and teams’ championships, establishing a formidable presence in the racing community.
In 1999, Manthey Racing participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, entering a Porsche 911 (996) GT3-R. The team triumphed in the LMGT class on their first attempt, with drivers Patrick Huisman, Uwe Alzen, and Luca Riccitelli. This victory marked the beginning of a series of successes in endurance racing.
The collaboration between Manthey Racing and Porsche deepened over the years. In 2013, Porsche acquired a 51% stake in Manthey Racing, integrating the team’s expertise into Porsche’s motorsport endeavors. This partnership led to significant achievements, including supporting Porsche’s GT factory entries in the World Endurance Championship and securing class victories at Le Mans.
Manthey Porsche and the 991 911 GT2 RS: Attainable Limits with Enhanced Control
The Manthey Porsche Performance Kit for the 991 911 GT2 RS builds on the Weissach Package’s magnesium wheels and adds aerodynamic, suspension, and brake upgrades. Enhancements such as additional flaps, a carbon underbody, and modified diffusers dramatically increase downforce, giving the car a planted feel through high-speed corners.
Manthey Porsche’s suspension, derived from motorsport expertise, offers multiple adjustable settings to suit any track condition. A larger water tank for intercooler spray-cooling extends performance endurance during intense driving sessions. Magnesium wheels save approximately 25 lbs. and are available in a variety of finishes, including Brilliant Silver and Platinum.
