Apex Auto Works has announced its entry in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) for 2024, marking a highly anticipated return after its remarkable performance in 2023. The team is geared up to tackle the challenging mountain roads once again, this time with a new driver and an upgraded Apexocet open-wheel race car.

Following their outstanding showing in 2023, where rally driver Andrei Mitrasca steered the team to a top 20 overall finish and clinched 4th place in class, Apex Auto Works is eager to build on their success. Notably, the team was the fastest vehicle running non-race fuel, powering their car with Shell V-Power NiTro+ Premium Gasoline.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, also known as the “Race to the Clouds,” is a legendary event held annually on Pikes Peak in Colorado since 1916. With its treacherous 12.42-mile course featuring 156 turns and an elevation gain of over 4,720 feet, the race poses a formidable challenge to drivers and teams alike.

For the 2024 season, Apex Auto Works has selected Yuri Kouznetsov as their new driver. Yuri brings over a decade of competitive racing experience in various disciplines, including karting, autocross, rallycross, road racing, time trials, and hill climb events. His impressive track record includes multiple appearances at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2012, 2014, and 2017, bringing a wealth of experience to the Texas team.

Yuri Kouznetsov’s journey into motorsports began with a passion for cars, which he ignited during his childhood in Russia. Over the years, he honed his skills and competed in numerous racing events, earning accolades and championships. With a background in petroleum engineering and a deep love for automotive culture, Yuri brings a unique blend of technical expertise and racing ability to the Apex Auto Works team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Yuri Kouznetsov to the Apex Auto Works family as our driver for the 2024 season,” said Richard Tomin, owner of Apex Auto Works and builder of the Apexocet. “Yuri’s dedication, experience, and passion for motorsports make him the perfect fit to lead our team back to Pikes Peak. Together, we aim to push the limits and continue our legacy of success on the mountain.”

As the team prepares for the upcoming season, Apex Auto Works remains committed to innovation, performance, and safety. With Yuri Kouznetsov behind the wheel of the Apexocet, the team is poised to make waves at the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
