The 2023 Nissan Altima SR makes a bold statement with its “black chrome” accents, giving the sedan a more aggressive and distinctive look. Paired with new 19-inch wheels and a great selection of exterior paint options (we love the Deep Blue Pearl), the Altima SR stands out in a crowded midsize sedan segment.

Step inside the 2023 Nissan Altima SR, and you’ll find a well-appointed interior that balances hard plastics with soft-touch surfaces. The dual-stitched accents on the door armrests and seats add a touch of luxury. While the seating position may feel a bit unconventional due to pedal placement, the leather-trimmed “Zero Gravity” front seats with eight-way power adjustability, lumbar support, and heating functionality provide excellent comfort. The highlight is the upgraded 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, making every drive a tech-savvy experience.

2023 Nissan Altima SR Performance

For 2023, Nissan has tuned the Altima SR’s suspension to enhance its dynamic performance. While it may not be a full-blown sports sedan, it is still fun to drive and the Altima SR handles well compared to other midsize sedans in its class. The suspension improvements contribute to a more engaging driving experience, striking a balance between comfort and agility. The s2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct-injection engine is rated at 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque for front-wheel-drive models, or 182 hp and 178 lb-ft in versions equipped with AWD, giving it more than enough power. It isn’t an M3, but the Altima SR AWD starts at just under $30,000. With the optional 19-inch wheels, rear spoiler, and exterior lighting option the SR AWD retails for $31,154.

Nissan prioritizes safety across all Altima trims, including the SR. Standard Safety Shield 360 technology includes features like automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and high-beam assist. Opting for the SL, SV, or SR models introduces ProPilot, an advanced active safety system that excels in keeping the vehicle securely within its lane.

While the Altima SR faces competition from other midsize sedans, its unique blend of styling, interior comfort, driving dynamics, safety features, and technological advancements makes it a compelling choice for those seeking a well-rounded driving experience. Despite the market alternatives, the Altima SR brings its own distinctive character to the table, making it worthy of consideration for your shortlist.
