When Ford decided to partner with Carroll Shelby on his  Shelby Cobra, the company had a lot riding on the success of the racer-turned-Southern California hot rodder. But Ford was toying with the idea of building a Corvette competitor in-house for years, it only made sense that they would base it on the already successful Cobra chassis.

While most concepts never get past the drawing and modeling stages, at least three Cobra-based prototypes were built, including the Bordinat Cobra, The Cougar II Concept, and the coach-built Ghia Cobra. Ford Motor Company wasn’t the only one building one-off Cobras, several privateers built their own cars with unique bodies mounted on leftover AC Cobra chassis or converted race cars.

Here are some of the forgotten Cobras.

At first glance, Kate Cook’s artwork might seem like a paradox—a seamless blend of classic oil painting techniques with the high-octane world of automotive enamels. Her signature approach, which she calls "Artemotiv," merges the meticulous craftsmanship of fine art with the raw energy of hot rods and muscle cars. But spend a few minutes with Cook, and the paradox resolves itself into something more profound: an artist who has not only found her lane but paved it herself.
