It has been 17 years since the Ford Mustang had the legendary Mach 1 option, the sporty performance and appearance package first debuted in 1969 and was an instant hit. The 2021 Mach 1 is being touted by Ford as the most track-capable 5.0 Mustang ever built, pulling parts from the Ford Performance and Shelby GT350 parts bins. The result is a 480hp V8 mated to a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission, with competition focused suspension. The car’s track focus doesn’t stop at suspension, it also gets a beefed-up oil and transmission cooler, improved aero, and 19-inch x 9.5-inch, and 19-inch x 10-inch wheels with Michelin PS4 tires.

The new car also gets a number of exterior changes calling back to the first generation Mach 1. A new two-piece upper grille, lower grille and valance, and new side grilles, all contribute to Mach 1’s signature look and more demanding aero and cooling performance requirements. Satin Black side and hood stripes are included with reflective accent stripes in any of three colors: Red, White, or Orange. Exterior color options include the Mach 1 exclusive Fighter Jet Gray, Iconic Silver, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Race Red, and Grabber Yellow.
