Few entertainers are more globally recognizable or universally loved than Elvis Presley. Be you a fan of the gold lame suited younger Presley or the older Presley immortalized in velvet, he was one of the original rock stars. Early on Elvis was known to have good taste he owned a 1957 BMW 507, a 1971 Detomaso Pantera that he famously shot, and of course a number of Cadillacs. But while he was known for his flashy cars and jumpsuits, The King also had a number of very nice watches. Over the years Presley was known to wear Omega, Rolex, and Hamilton watches over the years, but one of his more understated watches was the 14k Gold Universal Geneve that was gifted to him in the late 70s by Sam Phillips, the founder of Sun Records.

The King would later gift the watch to his long time friend and personal physician Dr. Elias Ghanem. Ghanem also went on to be chairman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission and was instrumental in making professional boxing safer. Ghanem presided over the hearing of former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson when he bit the ear of ex-champ Evander Holyfield in 1997. The hearing resulted in the revocation of Tyson’s license and a record $3 million fine, Ghanem would also preside over the hearing lifting Tyson’s ban. The Dr would pass away in 2001 after a long battle with cancer, survived by his wife Jody and three children. Jody Ghanem would list the watch for sale with M.S. Rau for $34,500.
