Rolling Coal Could Cost Diesel Brother Millions in Fines

Discovery Channel’s Diesel Brothers are in hot water after a lawsuit was filed in 2017 against the Reality TV Stars by an environmental group that claims the modifications performed to vehicles on the show,  and at their shop for customers violate the Clean Air Act.

The group Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment pleaded with U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby to impose the maximum penalties for illegally modifying or selling 20 trucks and products that override emissions controls nationally. The shop has been under a preliminary injunction since 2017 that prevents them from selling products that modify emissions controls, but according to the doctors, the company has continued to sell modified trucks.

Attorneys for the Diesel Brothers dispute the number of violations and have challenged the group’s standing to even file the lawsuit since most of the vehicles were sold outside of the state of Utah. In addition to the Clean Air Act penalties, the doctors have also asked for $1 million in attorneys’ fees and that the Diesel Brothers pay $100,000 into a Tampered Diesel Truck Restoration Program to be run by the county. Judge Shelby will issue final orders in the case soon.
