One of just six ever built, this car set a class record at the Brooklands, racing against the P3, Type 35, and ERAs. Founded by Geoffrey Tayor, in the late 1920s, Alta’s first car was a 1,100cc sportscar featuring twin overhead camshafts, hemispherical combustion chambers, and Nitralloy steel crankshafts, one of the most advanced engines of its time.

Chassis 52S was the first single-seat Alta race car, delivered in 1935 to Alastair J. Cormack in Scotland, who campaigned it through the 1936 season. This car competed at notable races like Monaco Prince Rainier Cup, Pescara Grand Prix, and Brighton Speed Trials. After World War II, 52S was sold back to Geoffrey Taylor of Alta Cars, from there the car was owned by several owners including a stint in New Zealand before returning to the UK in the 1980s. At one point it was event registered for road use. 52S has been with its current owner for nearly 25 years, who has campaigned it at numerous vintage racing events in Europe and the USA.
