Made in Texas: 18.21 Man Made

18.21 Man Made, offers a full line of grooming products:

I get a lot of products sent to me, grooming products, random gadgets, and car accessories, and a lot of them never make it on the site. They are just not a good fit or they aren’t a product I would use myself or I feel is high enough quality to promote. But while digging through a pile of boxes that included everything from BBQ tools to headlight refinishing kits I came across a box from 18.21 Man Made which had been sitting in the mail pile for some time. What made me stop was the excellent prohibition-era-inspired packaging and branding. Then I found out that they were from my home state of Texas, so I had to give it a try, and I am glad I did.

In the box was a selection of their bath and hair products, I first tried the Original Sweet Tobacco body wash, which looks like you are taking a bottle of whiskey into the shower. The rich earthy tobacco smell is amazing and so different from the standard fragrances used in most men’s body washes. The natural oils used not only provide a great wash, leaving your skin feeling fresh and clean, but the fragrance lingers long after you have dried off. The scent has received the stamp of approval from both my girlfriend and my sister, so the fact that ladies like the smell too is an added bonus.

The Bodywash is offered in Sweet Tobacco or Spiced Vanilla scents and the 18oz bottle retails for $24.00. If you are looking to buy in bulk you can pick up a 32oz or 64oz the latter looking like a moonshine jug.

How do I like 18.21 Man Made?

I had a photoshoot later that day for a clothing company (see above), so I decided to try the 18.21 Man Made collection of hair products, which include Clay, Pomade, Paste, and hairspray. I found that for my hair, the paste worked best for a more natural look, and for the shoot, we hit it with some hairspray so it would hold during the whole shoot. even with a few wardrobe changes, including popping on my Stetson for a few shots, my hair held its shape well and was easy to restyle after we finished with the hat.

The paste is priced at $24.00 for a 2oz jar; it is comparable in price to other boutique brands like House 99 and Baxter of California.

After trying so many different brands and even working with some of the mainstream big box brands on projects, I have to say that this boutique brand from Euless Texas has won me over with its unique take on men’s grooming products. In addition to hair and body wash, they offer Deodorant, Beard Balm, Cologne, Shaving products, and great gift boxes. I highly encourage you to check them out.

You can shop online at 1821manmade.com or find many of the products at your local Ulta.
