G-SHOCK Neo Tokyo: A Tribute to Futuristic Anime Aesthetics

Casio G-SHOCK has released the all-new “Neo Tokyo” series in their most popular styles, including the DW6900, GA140, GA700, and GAS100 lineups. Inspired by the colors of the futuristic metropolises from our favorite anime films from the 1980s, the collection features blacked-out bezels with yellow, red, and blue hands as dial accents to represent the city’s lights of Neo Tokyo.

This collection reflects the G-SHOCK’s80s heritage; Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe developed the concept of the G-SHOCK in 1981 as a watch that would have a battery life of 10 years, a water resistance of 10 meters and could survive a fall of 10 feet. It would take the team two years and nearly 200 prototypes before the first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, was launched in 1983. The G-SHOCK became one of the most popular watches of the decade and saw increased popularity through the 1990s. By 2017, Casio had sold over 100 million G-SHOCK watches worldwide.

The DW6900, GA140, and GA700 models retail for $99 each, and the GAS100 model will retail for $150 and will be available for purchase starting this September at select G-SHOCK retailers including Macy’s, G-SHOCK Soho Store, and gshock.com.
