I have long been a fan of TSOVET watches, my first watch from the California-based brand, was an NT-42 which I won via a contest. I was impressed with the simplicity of the watch and the rugged construction, over the years the NT-42 has been my daily watch, surviving diving in Indonesia, volunteering in the jungles of Nicaragua, and all of my US and Mexico adventures. It has gone around the world and other than replacing a strap and a battery has never let me down.

So when the team at TSOVET offered to send me a new SVT-FW44 to test, I was, of course, excited to see what is essentially a slightly larger version of my trusty NT-42. The black case, black and white dial, and black band all were very familiar, but the SVT-FW44 display feels more aviation or rally clock inspired with the numerals highlighting the minutes rather than the hours.

Inspired by the WWI infantryman’s field watch, one of the first mass-produced wrist watches, the FW44 functional face with a luminous dial and hands make it easy to read, day or night. The reliable Ronda 513.1 Swiss Quartz movement means you wear this watch for years to come with little maintenance or worry.

Offered in a choice of classic color combinations, the SVT-FW44 is currently on sale at TSOVET.com for $225.00 (reg price $350)
