Why Use Beard Oils and Balms?

I come from a long line of men with beards and have had one most of my adult life, but until recent memory, beard oil and beard balm was something I had never heard of and wasn’t something sold at mainstream retailers. The men’s shaving section at most stores would carry a selection of razors, shaving cream, and aftershave, but that was about it.

Fast forward to today and even retailers like Walmart and Target have some offerings of beard care products, as well as thousands of boutique companies offers men’s grooming products. There seems to be a lot of myths about beard oil, that it can help your beard grow faster, that it prevents ingrown hairs, and that it provides nutrients to your beard. That is pretty much nonsense.

So what do beard oil and beard balm really do? Firstly I prefer the beard balms myself as it’s easier to manage and doesn’t get me weird looks from the TSA when I travel. It not only conditions my beard and skin but helps keep my beard’s wild hairs from going all directions, almost like a styling paste for your beard. The natural oils in the beard oils and balms I have been using from Badass Beard Care keep my beard hair soft and hydrated, helping to reduce breakage and split ends. Plus the added bonus is the great masculine smell that, so far, everyone has really liked.
