LA Beer Hop

The Los Angeles beer scene has been slowly and quietly growing for many years, cultivating new breweries, beers, and bars. In that time, the beer community that has evolved has reached a quality that rivals any other beer town. LA is now home to many award-winning beers, nationally acclaimed beers. LA Beer Hop was started by Hal & Cindy Mooney because of their passion for craft beer and the Los Angeles area.
I had a chance to jump on board the LA Beer Hop bus with the Hal who is a Certified Cicerone® and Beer Guide, who has built an amazing network of breweries in the Los Angeles area. Hal started the company with his wife Cindy in 2012, by selling his car to help purchase the first bus, since then the company has grown to three buses and regularly scheduled tours. LA Beer Hop offers three standard tours and a private tour option for special events or larger groups.
We were checking out breweries in what is called the South Bay, and more specifically in the city of Torrance. Going on a tour is as simple as purchasing a ticket online and getting picked up at the metro station. The tours last approximately 4-5 hours and cost $69/person. A great selection of beers is offered for tasting at each of the three stops. You also learn about the history of the brewery and many times get to interact with the owners or brewmasters.

At first glance, Kate Cook’s artwork might seem like a paradox—a seamless blend of classic oil painting techniques with the high-octane world of automotive enamels. Her signature approach, which she calls "Artemotiv," merges the meticulous craftsmanship of fine art with the raw energy of hot rods and muscle cars. But spend a few minutes with Cook, and the paradox resolves itself into something more profound: an artist who has not only found her lane but paved it herself.
