Texas Street Racing Crackdown, 8 Arrested

Street racing has been in the new a lot lately with agencies cracking down nationwide on racers. This past week in Texas the Harris County Sheriff’s Office stepped up enforcement resulting in eight men being arrested. Deputy J. O’Leary of the Harris County Sheriff’s said that “on some nights we will have up to several hundred cars out here (known street racing areas).”

In a video release by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, three Chevrolet Corvettes can be seeing in a rolling start street race and reach speeds over 100 miles per hour. O’Leary said he regularly sees speeds over 120 miles per hour and “significantly above the speeds that our patrol cars can actually keep up.”
