Fontana, Calif. (October 28, 2011) - - Allen Berg Racing Schools (ABRS) one of the world's leading racing schools, will open a new west coast branch at one of America's best-known professional racing venues: the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.
"This is a real dream come true for us," said school founder and chief instructor Allen Berg. "We've had so many drivers from southern California attending our other schools in the US and Canada over the years that this almost feels like a homecoming, and not a whole new track."
Unique in the racing school industry, ABRS employs full carbon fiber-chassis formula cars which are currently in use in international competition. In addition, ABRS is the only racing school to employ Formula One-style MoTeC data acquisition technology on all racecars, the same data systems as used by teams in Indy Car, ALMS and the Indianapolis 500.
Programs will begin on November 15, 2011 and be run on the variable-length, multiple-option road course at Auto Club. "There are so many combinations and possibilities with this track complex that we'll really be able to teach technique to everyone from beginners who have never been in a racing car, to top pros who want to sharpen up their road course skills," Berg indicated. "It's an ideal teaching facility that also happens to be quite a challenging race track. I find it very demanding to drive at competition speeds."
Berg, a professional driver who began racing in Karts and with credentials which include a season with the Osella team in Formula One, has made it his goal to assist young drivers in learning the intricacies of controlling a very fast formula car.
The Berg approach is both highly technical (the cars and the electronic feedback and recording systems are state-of-the-art), but his school's teaching model is tailored to each individual's abilities and rate of learning. "Our instructors stress the fundamentals and look to always be making progress with every driver we work with," Berg added.
LOCATION and FEW MORE DETAILS:
World-renown Auto Club Speedway, located as it is almost in the exact center of southern California, is within easy range of Los Angeles to the west and San Diego to the south, with the vast Inland Empire surrounding it.
On all one, two, or three-day formula car programs, each and every lap is recorded and used to monitor and critique driver's performance. The information provides a graphic comparison to experienced racers' efforts under the same conditions.
At the end of their course each student is presented with their own 4GB USB Card that contains their personal in-car video, all lap read-out data, and a copy of the MoTeC software for further study when they return home.
TECH SPECS:
Allen Berg Racing School uses Tatuus Renault Formula 1600 cars that feature a full carbon fiber chassis. These light, super-stiff structures allow drivers to have a true feel for suspension adjustments and changing track conditions.
The powerplant is a 160 HP fuel-injected 4-cylinder 1600cc engine
Built in Italy by Specialist Racing Constructors Tatuus. The basic engines are Renault, the brand that powers 2011 driver's champion Sebastian Vettel and that will see Red Bull Racing honored as the 2011 manufacturer's champion constructor in Formula 1.
5-speed sequential transmissions are also an integral part of a race-bred package that allows drivers to make gear changes faster and more precisely, with far less possibility of missed shifts.
The monoshock/monospring pushrod suspension system of the Tatuus reduces both weight and air resistance making for a faster racecar. Easier to tune to each type of track, this style of suspension is common to all advanced formula race cars all the way to Formula One and Indy Car.
Each car is equipped with an advanced dash-mounted MoTeC onboard data Acquisition computer. It records driver, engine and chassis information, which is used by ABRS instructors to analyze driver performance and thus enhance their driving skills. These systems are now commonplace at all levels of racing, but seldom used in racing schools.
The onboard Contour GPS High Definition camera is a state-of-the-art video recording system that is used by many top professional racing teams.
Now open for business, and now open for the business of serious formula car race training Allen Berg Racing Schools at the Auto Club Speedway brings a new level of commitment to the learning process which leads to becoming a top professional driver.
