Porsche has officially introduced its latest additions to the Panamera lineup—the 300-horsepower Panamera and all-wheel-drive Panamera 4—at the Beijing Motor Show on April 23rd. The debut comes just one year after the high-performance Panamera S, 4S, and Turbo made their global premiere in Shanghai in 2009, reinforcing Porsche’s commitment to expanding its luxury sports sedan offerings.
Panamera and Panamera 4: U.S. Availability & Pricing
The new V6-powered Gran Turismos will be available at U.S. Porsche dealerships starting in June 2010, with an MSRP of:
- Panamera: $74,400
- Panamera 4 (with active all-wheel drive): $78,900
(Prices exclude destination charges.)
Performance: A New Era for the Porsche Panamera
Both models feature an all-new 3.6-liter V6 engine with Direct Fuel Injection (DFI), delivering:
- 300 horsepower
- 295 lb-ft of torque
Built on the same production line as the 4.8-liter V8 engines found in the Panamera S, 4S, and Turbo, this 90-degree V6 powerplant is approximately 66 pounds lighter than its V8 counterparts—enhancing overall performance and efficiency.
- Panamera: Rear-wheel drive
- Panamera 4: Standard active all-wheel drive
Both models come equipped with Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK)—Porsche’s cutting-edge seven-speed dual-clutch transmission—as standard, ensuring seamless gear shifts and optimal performance.
Efficiency Meets Innovation
In keeping with Porsche Intelligent Performance principles—delivering more power with improved fuel economy—the Panamera and Panamera 4 integrate advanced efficiency-enhancing features, including:
- Auto Start Stop function (reducing fuel consumption in traffic)
- Lightweight construction (axles, doors, hood, fenders, and tailgate made of aluminum)
Porsche expects notably better fuel efficiency compared to the V8-powered Panameras. Official EPA fuel economy figures will be released closer to launch, but neither model will be subject to the gas-guzzler tax. Both meet EU5 emissions standards in Europe and LEV regulations in the U.S.
Luxury Features & Technology
Both the Panamera and Panamera 4 come packed with high-end standard features, including:
- Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with Navigation
- Bi-Xenon™ headlights
- Bluetooth® connectivity
- Universal audio interface (for iPods, USB devices, and external audio sources)
- Electric moonroof and power liftgate
Precision Handling & Comfort
Designed as true Gran Turismos, the new Panamera models combine sports car dynamics with executive sedan comfort.
- Steel suspension (standard)
- Adaptive air suspension with variable dampers (optional)
- Lightweight design for optimal weight distribution
Award-Winning Legacy
Since its U.S. launch in October 2009, the Porsche Panamera lineup has earned multiple prestigious awards, including:
- Playboy Magazine’s 2010 Car of the Year (Panamera Turbo)
- Car and Driver Editors’ Choice Awards (Luxury & Sports Sedan categories)

Luxury Cars like this are getting less and less popular in China as the people buy Chinese cars more now.
For the money these are hard to beat, I am looking at them on the auction sites.
These are such a good deal used right now.
Amazing how China is now moving away from import cars and buying their own
Remember when 300 hp was impressive.
Still my favorite 4 door
Whoever thought a 4-door Porsche was a good idea?
Just buy a Mercedes-Benz
