This attraction, which opened on July 27, 2004, is notable for being the world’s first motorbike roller coaster, a pioneering design by the Dutch manufacturer Vekoma.
The Booster Bike is situated in the Magic Valley area of Toverland, a theme park renowned for its blend of indoor and outdoor attractions catering to visitors of all ages. The ride’s concept is ingeniously crafted to simulate the sensation of riding a high-speed motorcycle. Horseshoe: A U-shaped element that combines banking and turns, delivering lateral G-forces and dynamic transitions.
Horizontal Loop: A 360-degree turn executed on a horizontal plane, offering a sensation of sustained speed and centrifugal force.
High-Speed Curve: A sharply banked turn taken at high velocity, maintaining the ride’s intensity before it returns to the station.
The entire experience lasts approximately 55 seconds, during which riders are immersed in the sensation of a high-speed motorcycle chase. The Booster Bike’s design and engineering reflect Vekoma’s commitment to innovation in the amusement industry. As the prototype for Vekoma’s Motorbike Coaster model, it has inspired similar attractions worldwide, including installations at Chimelong Paradise in China and Flamingo Land in the United Kingdom.
In 2020, Toverland acquired a second train for the Booster Bike. Although the coaster operates with only one train at a time and lacks a transfer track or linked maintenance bay, the addition of a second train ensures that maintenance procedures do not necessitate extended ride closures. This investment underscores the park’s dedication to providing consistent and reliable experiences for its guests.
For those interested in experiencing the Booster Bike, Toverland provides detailed information on accessibility and rider requirements. The minimum height requirement for unaccompanied riders is 140 cm (approximately 4 feet 7 inches). However, the ride is not suitable for visitors with certain health conditions, including neck and back problems, heart issues, high blood pressure, or for those who are pregnant.
