Genesis created a handsome SUV with the Electrified GV70. It receives a large crest grille, twin dual headlights, and a sculpted hood with a Genesis logo. The grille hides the chart port which makes charging very simple. This Electrified GV70 wore Capri Blue paint and 20-inch alloy wheels. It has a silhouette similar to a Porsche Macan, looking sporty but compromising on rear head space. At the rear, the Electrified GV70 has the same elongated taillights and a small hatch but ditches the circular tailpipes since it’s electric. Prestige Electrified GV70s come with a power-operated hands-free tailgate with an auto-open feature if you stand next to the tailgate for a few seconds. It worked mostly all of the time.
Hop inside and the Electrified GV70 showcases a luxurious interior with almost everything in white Nappa leather and aluminum trim. The steering wheel has buttons for the adaptive cruise control, media, and digital dials. There’s also a boost button but we will get to that later. The digital dials and head-up display are crisp, with the dials having a 3-D option. Next to the driver is a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which also utilizes a rotary wheel. It boasts various displays and options, including Sounds of Nature and an EV-specific screen.
Genesis swapped the climate control’s physical buttons for a small touchscreen. There are dials for the temperature, and while hitting the buttons for the seats and fan speed aren’t difficult to use, the old buttons were easier to use. Both front seats are ventilated and heated, with the driver getting a massage function. They’re very comfortable with plenty of lumbar and thigh support. In front of the rotary for the infotainment system are two wheels for the volume and tuning and a rocker switch for the various drive modes. Behind it is the dial for the transmission. The second row receives heated outboard seats and door shades. They’re comfortable, but the sloping headline and panoramic roof cut into headspace. Trunk space is adequate but small for the segment. It’s a luxurious and comfortable interior with ambient lighting.
Powering the Electrified GV70 are two 160kW motors, one on each axle. Combined, they normally make 429 horsepower, but pressing the Boost Button ups that to 483 horsepower. Making 516 pound-feet of torque and all-wheel-drive, the Electrified GV70 can hit 60 MPH in a scant 3.8 seconds. It has three drive modes: Eco, Comfort, and Sport, and shockingly, I found Eco to still have plenty of power and to maximize the small range. Although the Electrified GV70 has a 77.4 kWh battery, returning less than 3 miles/kWh results in a range of less than 230 miles. Thankfully, the 800-volt architecture means the Electrified GV70 can charge at a peak of 233 kW and a 10-80% charge time of 18 minutes.
On the road, the Electrified GV70 handles well and is very comfortable, gliding over bumps. The Electrified GV70 utilizes paddles on the steering wheel to adjust the regen braking, going from coasting to full one-pedal driving. Highway driving showcases only a little wind noise. Driver safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, emergency braking, and cross-traffic alert. For 2025, the Electrified GV70 starts at around $67,000 for the Advanced Package. Top-of-the-line Prestige models start at around $75,000. Including the $650 Capri Blue Paint, this Electrified GV70 is priced at $75,500.
After my week with the Genesis Electrified GV70, I found it to be very comfortable and very fast. No matter the drive mode, it has a lot of power but glides over bumps. Its exterior is quite handsome and the interior feels luxurious. I’m not a fan of 3D digital dials, but the head-up display showcases a lot of information. There isn’t that much space inside compared to rivals, but the Electrified GV70 beats them with its powertrain. If the range isn’t an issue, the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 is one of the best compact luxury SUVs on the market.
