The 2024 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion again transformed the iconic WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca into a living museum of motorsport history. The Swiss watchmaker’s iconic crown is a fixture at some of the world’s most prestigious racing events, from the grueling Daytona 24 Hours and legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans to the high-speed drama of Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship. But Rolex’s dedication to the spirit of racing isn’t limited to the present; it extends deep into the past, supporting events celebrating motorsport’s rich history. Since becoming a partner of the Pebble Beach Concours in 1997, Rolex has been a critical player in Monterey Car Week, including the revered Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
Widely considered the most significant on-track gathering of historic competition cars in the world, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca is the heartbeat of Monterey Car Week. Held annually in August, it brings together a curated collection of racing legends, from pre-war icons to the fire-breathing machines that defined mid-century motorsport. This year’s reunion is particularly special, marking the 50th anniversary of the event that first roared to life in 1974.
The original flyer from that inaugural reunion promised spectators a chance to “thrill to the roar of fire-belching track burners of the remembered past,” featuring the cars that made names like Nuvolari, Fangio, Hill, and Moss legendary. Fast forward to 2024, and that promise remains the essence of the event. As vintage racing machines tackle the challenging corkscrew of Laguna Seca, the roar of engines and the smell of high-octane fuel transport attendees back to an era when racing was raw, daring, and utterly captivating.
