It is an exciting time in the world of horology, new brands are emerging every day and historic brands are being revived, French watchmaker YEMA is one of those revived in recent years. With a rich history and connections to special forces and motorsports, the brand has all the right elements to attract both serious watch aficionados and casual collectors. With the unveiling of its latest creation, the YEMA Superman Slim, the brand once again reaffirms its position as a pioneer in the world of luxury watches.
At first glance, the Superman Slim captivates with its refined aesthetics and impeccable design. Equipped with the cutting-edge micro-rotor caliber CMM.20, this timepiece represents a harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity. This movement was designed in Switzerland by YEMA and many components are manufactured in YEMA's workshop in Morteau, this impressive movement offers chronometer levels of accuracy and a 70-hour power reserve, in a thinner package.
The Superman is available in two colors and boasts a sleeker and thinner 39mm case in stainless steel. One of the most striking features of the Superman Slim is its redesigned 20mm Scales Slim bracelet, which seamlessly is integrated with the curved lugs of the case. This attention to detail not only enhances the watch's aesthetic appeal but also ensures a comfortable fit. The Superman is the kind of classic diver that can be paired with formal attire or casual wear, making it the perfect watch for every day at the office, a night on the town, or a weekend in the county.
The sapphire exhibition case-back unveils the intricate beauty of the Manufacture micro-rotor caliber CMM.20, a testament to YEMA's commitment to excellence. Each case-back bears a unique serial number, adding a touch of exclusivity to this masterpiece. Constructed from 316L stainless steel, the case boasts brushed finishes juxtaposed with polished bevels, creating a visual masterpiece that is both timeless and contemporary. Despite its slim profile, the watch maintains a remarkable water resistance of 30 BAR, a testament to its professional dive watch heritage.
The rotating bezel of the Superman Slim is a testament to YEMA's dedication to precision and quality. While I haven't had the chance to see the YEMA Superman Slim in person, based on past watches I have reviewed in person I am sure it has the same impeccable craftsmanship as their previous models. Priced at $2,700 USD the YEMA Superman Slim comes in well under its Swiss rivals like the Tudor Pelagos and the Breitling Avenger.
