The new Chevrolet Tahoe offers an improved formula at a less expensive price point, with the powerful 6.2-liter engine available in the sporty Tahoe RST trim. We had the opportunity to experience this impressive trim for ourselves this past week.

The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe RST boasts a sporty design, with unique 22-inch wheels, a darkened front grille, and black exterior trim. The RST seats are special, and the interior features distinctive accent stitching throughout. The Tahoe RST trim provides a wide range of options while maintaining a mid-level trim position with a respectable price point. This makes it a sweet spot in the Tahoe lineup, offering the more powerful powertrain as an option.

After undergoing a recent redesign for the 2021 model year, the Chevrolet Tahoe boasts a much more welcoming cabin with easy access to any row of seats. The Tahoe RST trim takes a more reserved approach to features in order to keep the price down, but it still offers plenty of creature comforts. For example, it comes with front heated seats, 3-zone automatic climate control, and a wide range of adjustability in the front power-adjusted seats. Our test vehicle also had the optional rear seat media system with dual 12.6-inch touchscreens mounted behind the front seats, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration fed through the latest 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit.

The Tahoe RST also includes a convenient wireless charging pad with the customary under-pad cooling found in new GM vehicles to prevent your smartphone from overheating during charging. All in all, the Tahoe RST offers a solid balance of features and affordability. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of higher trims, but it still manages to provide plenty of comfort and convenience for passengers. The rear seat media system and wireless charging pad are particularly nice touches that enhance the overall user experience.

As the sporty iteration of the new Tahoe, the RST trim feels noticeably more nimble than its upper-level counterparts or its stablemates from GMC and Cadillac. Part of this feeling is due to the fact that the Tahoe RST is slightly lighter, thanks to the omission of a lengthy list of added equipment found on more expensive trims. For instance, it forgoes the trick air suspension setup but still offers the fantastic magnetic ride control system featured on our test vehicle.

The Tahoe RST's magnetic ride control is part of the Sport Performance Package, which also includes the 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of producing 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This power is delivered through a 10-speed automatic transmission and a catback performance exhaust system.

Overall, the Tahoe RST offers an excellent blend of performance and agility. It ditches some of the extra weight and equipment found on higher trims, resulting in a lighter and more responsive vehicle. The magnetic ride control system further enhances the driving experience, making the Tahoe RST a truly exciting SUV to drive.
