If you need help buying a car, then you may need to first determine what type of car you
want. You may have heard about electric cars but how much do you really know
about them? From an economic point of view, things are quite clear and it seems
that there is no need to say too much to explain why an electric vehicle is
more profitable than a vehicle that runs on fuel (even on days when the price
of fuel goes down and electricity goes up).
The maintenance cost of an electric
vehicle is lower compared to an internal combustion vehicle - we do not pay for
fuel and there is not much that will break down in the car (in almost five
years we have had an electric vehicle we went with it once to the garage due to
a computer malfunction. True, buying a new electric car is not a cheap affair,
but buying an internal combustion car is not exactly pocket money either. So
let’s take a look at electric cars and just see if they truly are worth the
money in terms of how they can assist the planet and more.
Electricity generation efficiency
Claims that electric vehicles are not really green are heard all
the time, but studies show time and time again that even though they pollute -
they pollute significantly less. An EU report states that even cars that are
charged with electricity generated from burning fossil fuels produce pollution
that is two-thirds lower compared to internal combustion cars. The energy
production in the power plant is more efficient and less polluting than the
production of the same energy in the car engine.
Far from the City Center
Because the generation of electricity for charging takes
place in areas far from city centers - at least some of them - the gases
emitted endanger us less than those emitted by cars near residential
neighborhoods, schools, and pedestrians. Overall, electric cars are in fact
better for the planet. It's clear that air pollution from burning fossil fuels or
coal in favor of electricity generation is bad, but it's dozens of times worse
when it is emitted to us - and especially to children, the elderly, and the
sick.
Charging Your Vehicle
Not only are they good for the
environment, but they can also be a lot more convenient for the average person.
You have more options on where you can charge your vehicle as you do not have
to rely on being able to find a gas station at any given time. Increasing
numbers of places now have charging points for electric cars, meaning that you
should be able to charge them pretty much wherever you go if you need to, as
well as being able to charge them at home! This is a massive benefit and
contributes to them overall being worth the hype.
Conclusion
In short, the cleaner the country you live in, the more
environmentally friendly the electric vehicle will be charged, and vice versa.
But even this is not fate. Even if you live in a country where most of the
electricity is generated from polluting sources you always have the option to
generate electricity by solar means and use it to charge the vehicle (Elon Musk
also thought it was a good idea when merging with SolarCity). So if you do want
to make the switch to electric, it is good to note that there will be plenty of
more choices as the years go on. This decade, many governments are making it
their mission to lower emissions across the board and this is beginning with
cars. Make a decision, make a change!
