Royal Enfield INT 650 Twin Is the Best Value on Two Wheels

by Michael Satterfield

I have always loved the timeless style of Royal Enfield motorcycles, the company basically just never stopped making their bikes from the 30s. But while the Bullet and Classic 500's had the looks, they never had the top-end speed to be a bike that could do everything I needed. For the city the 500 was fine, but when it comes to long stretches of highway or the fast backroads of states like Texas the Enfields always needed more power. With the introduction of the INT 650 and Continental GT 650, Royal Enfield finally has a do-everything road bike that I am thinking might be my next purchase.

The new twins from Royal Enfield offer the classic good looks of a Triumph Bonneville for around half the price. Starting at just $5,799 for the INT 650 and $5,999 for the Continental GT 650, including a standard 3-year unlimited mile warranty & roadside assistance the new 650 from Enfield is one of the best values on the road today when compared to bikes like the Harley-Davidson Street Rod which is nearly $3,000 more.

For me at 5'10 the riding position was excellent, the bike is incredibly maneuverable at low speeds and on the highway, it feels stable and balanced. The 6-speed gearbox makes the long highway rides much more comfortable and the standard ABS Bosch/Brembo brakes give you confidence when you need to stop quickly. The only thing I would change is adding the "Touring Seat" option which still looks like a classic scrambler style seat, but has a little extra padding for the longer stents.
