PROJECT 1 by coach builder Ares Design Factory will build you a modern interpretation of the classic De Tomaso Pantera, while the company is not tied to De Tomaso the styling captures all the 70s wedge styling that made the original so iconic. Ares is no stranger to creating modern classics, we covered their 1964 Corvette Stingray last year and was impressed with the attention to detail.
Unlike the Ford powered original the PROJECT 1 is based on a Lamborghini Huracán giving it a 5.2 liter V10 and all the very best of modern supercar engineering. With over 640hp and a lightweight Carbon Fiber body the car should be a rocket ship, however, Ares Design has not released any performance figures, but based on the Huracán's number it should be a sub 2.5 second 0-60 time.
Wider than the original Pantera the wheelbase is also slightly longer so the car is still proportional and doesn't look awkward like some classic inspired modern coach built cars. But then again Ares is different they didn't simply try to hang old fiberglass panels on a modern chassis they purposefully designed a modern Pantera, and I think Alejandro de Tomaso would approve.
The interior is bespoke to each customer's design specifications and features loads of carbon fiber and leather wrapped around a nicely restyled interior that integrates the Lamborghini switchgear and instrument cluster well.
Pricing Starts at 615,000 Euros (around $695,000) and requires the donor car to be shipped to their factory in Modena Italy. For more info visit their official website HERE.
