Hannah Spooner is a car enthusiast who has carved out a niche creating custom car illustrations for collectors, dealerships, and even automotive celebrities. We reached out to ask Hannah a few questions about her work and her passion for cars.
TGR: How long have you been drawing cars?
HS: I’ve been drawing cars for 3 years, but drawing in general since I was little.
HS: My fiancé is a car fanatic, we always go to car shows together and he pretty much made me fall in love with them.
TGR: What do you currently drive?
HS: Currently, I drive an Audi S4, but am hoping to get a new car in a couple months, a Challenger SRT.
TGR: Back to art, how did you learn how to draw and are did you go to school for art?
HS: My aunt went to art school (College for Creative Studies, one of the top art schools in the country) for automotive design, & she was my mentor. I followed in her footsteps and went to CCS for the same major, but dropped out after a semester as designing cars wasn’t my passion. “Fine art” is what I technically do by recreating photos of cars.
TGR: Do you sell your work? If so where?
HS: I sell my art through social media, and I am trying to grow a business through Instagram.. Recently, an Aston Martin dealership hired me to draw each car they sell to send out as a gift to each customer
TGR: Where do you hope your art will take you?
HS: I hope to be able to have a studio one to filled with car drawings, I think they have a special meaning behind them. Seeing first hand how much my fiancé cherishes his car really made me realize how special they are.
TGR: Can people commission you to draw their car? If so what do you charge?
HS: People commission me all the time, I currently have 50 drawings back-ordered. I juggle the dealership and individual orders as efficiently as possible. I charge $245 for a 16x20 & $265 for an 18x24 including shipping in the US.
TGR: What is your dream car?
HS: My dream car is probably a Mercedes GT R
