The Ringbrothers De Tomaso Pantera “ADRNLN” has captured the attention of enthusiasts around the globe since its debut at the 2013 SEMA Show, having appeared in more than 100 different media outlets like Road & Track, Autoblog, Autoweek, The Smoking Tire, Motor Head (Japan), Top Performance (UAE), and Fast Cars (UK). After taking one last joyride in memory of her late husband Randy, owner Cheryl Brickl is ready to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy the car as much as her husband would have. The yellow ADRNLN Pantera, lot #5072, will be auctioned off at no reserve at the 2015 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Jim and Mike Ring of Ringbrothers designed the ADRNLN Pantera the way they think De Tomaso would have designed the car today. Extensive body work was done on the Pantera; the Rings built every panel from scratch, with the exception of a few inches on the roof and the left side panel. The car now sits much lower, and the overall shape has been smoothed and updated, giving the car a modernized aggressive sports car stance. Most of the details of the car have been changed including sloping the lower rocker panels inward, making the fender peaks higher and widening the fender flares. The headlights have been modernized and integrated inside custom-made optically-clear composite enclosures. The car was then finished in a custom BASF Glasurit Waterborne paint color called “Yellow Line.”
ADRNLN’s original 351 Cleveland has been replaced with a modern GM LS3 engine from Wegner Motorsports that generates 600 horsepower thanks to its Holley electronic fuel injection system. All that power has then been routed through a ZF five speed gearbox by Bowler, while Royal Purple synthetic lubricants keep both the engine and the transaxle running smoothly. The Pantera’s signature roar has been created by a pair of Flowmaster Pro Series laminar flow stainless steel mufflers and a set of custom built headers. To be sure that the car’s massive power gets put to the ground, a set of HRE S101 three-piece forged wheels were shod in high performance tires, while Baer six-piston calipers on all four corners were tasked to bring this modern classic to a smooth stop.
One of the most unique features of ADRNLN has to be its two-toned interior. Nike’s Innovation Skunkworks Design Team approached the Rings and leapt at the chance to bring their design ideas into the automotive world. They created an ultra-driver-focused cabin that utilized modern materials as well as high-grade leather. Other elements by the design team include Nike waffle on the pedals, perforated material from a shoe upper on the backing of the gauges, and a Wisconsin ‘71’ license plate that the team tracked down and distressed to allude to the condition that the car started in. Nike also created a pair ofADRNLN-matching custom shoes, which will accompany the Pantera across the block.
The auction house is no stranger to the vehicles built by Ringbrothers. Although the builders have never directly auctioned off a car, eight of their builds have found their way to auction at Barrett-Jackson including the pair of “Producer” Mustangs, the “Razor” Camaro, the “Afterburner” Fairlane, and the “Dragon” Mustang, which is the highest-sellingRingbrothers vehicle to date ($346,500). However, the ADRNLN Pantera is in serious contention for becoming the new highest-selling Ringbrothers build thanks to the immense amount of time, work, craftsmanship, and attention that was put into the build, not to mention the car’s out-right performance potential.
The ADRNLN Pantera won’t be the only Ringbrothers build at Barrett-Jackson this year. Ringbrothers’ newest creation, the award-winning 1966 “Recoil” Chevrolet Chevelle, will be on display during the auction in the Mothers booth. The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, Arizona auction runs January 10-18.
