The Morgan Nissan LMP2 built by Oak Racing has an open-cockpit and is an extreme sports car. Built specifically to race in the World Endurance Championship for Sports Cars it is the ultimate car in which an amateur can pit his skill against the professionals. Backed by an established team the amateur trains with pro race drivers. The races are at Le Mans for the 24 hours as well as Sebring, Silverstone, Spa and many new tracks built for Formula One. In sports car racing many drivers prefer an open cockpit vehicle over a coupe. This is because of a superior sense of speed and vision. The driver can develop a much closer bond with the car and feels safer because he can be more in control. This is synonymous with Morgan's attitude toward creating vehicles that provide both high performance and fun. The feeling is encapsulated by the familiar saying, "to drive by the seat of your pants".
The unique combination of economy and acceleration provided by the Morgan 3 Wheeler also reflects the performance of the Morgan Nissan LMP2 car which has an ultra-efficient V8 engine combined with low overall weight and superb aerodynamics.
For all these reasons it seemed entirely correct to seek permission to release a Morgan 3 Wheeler in the striking Gulf Oil livery.
The striking Blue and Orange graphic, and the years of motorsport success it represents adorn the new Morgan 3 Wheeler "Gulf Edition" for a run of 100 commemorative vehicles. These gulf cars will provide just the sense of excitement that comes from top-level motorsport. Following its official international launch at this year's Motorcycle Live, the 3 Wheelers will be available to buy from your local Morgan 3 Wheeler dealer or direct from the factory.
