Event to Reveal 6-Foot Masterpiece “Flying Mile,”
Recapturing Famed Rider “Shrimp” Burns and his 1914 Indian 8-Valve
WHAT: Surrounded by an array of vintage motorcycles and scooters,
internationally acclaimed artist and sculptor Steve Posson will unveil his
six-foot bronze piece “Flying Mile” at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 at Agoura
Hills-based World Class Motoring (WCM),
Honoring
legendary racer Albert “Shrimp” Burns and his 1914 Indian 8-Valve, the piece will
join additional Posson motorcycle and automotive sculptures on display at
WCM. Posson’s newest work pays tribute
to AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Burns, one of the top dirt and board track racers
of the 1910s and early '20s. The diminutive Burns, who rode for both the
Harley-Davidson and Indian factory teams, was the youngest champion of his era,
winning his first titles at the age of 15.
Acclaimed throughout the automotive and motorcycle industries, Posson has showcased his works at high-profile events such as Barrett-Jackson, Pebble Beach Retro Auto, The Greenwich Concours, The Newport Beach Concours, The L.A. Roadsters Show, The Grand National Roadster Show and the San Diego Speed Festival.
